Founder/President, Outpacing Melanoma Foundation

Kelly Klover established Outpacing Melanoma Foundation in the fall of 2011 to honor the memory of her late husband, Richard, and to increase public awareness in the Kansas City Region and the state of Kansas by promoting early detection and screenings, and to support melanoma research initiatives.

Kelly serves as a member on the Board of Directors in her neighborhood Homes Association and chairs the Social Event Committee. She also volunteers each month to distribute food through Harvesters with her church, Colonial Presbyterian.

Kelly attended Kansas State University where she studied Human Ecology and Mass Communications. She resides in Overland Park, Kansas, where she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Interim Division Director, Division of Medical Oncology, The University of Kansas Cancer Center

Gary C. Doolittle, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Interim Division Director of the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center; Medical Director of the Masonic Cancer Alliance; Assistant Dean of Foundation Sciences, University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine; Chair of the Kansas Cancer Partnership; has an active outpatient oncology clinic and, consults for one of the most active telemedicine programs in the United States, having conducted over 2,500 telemedicine clinics for several disciplines. Dr. Doolittle has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the Melanoma Survivorship Clinic and serves as clinical director coordinating the multidisciplinary services for the clinic. Dr. Doolittle received a BS from Pittsburg State University and his Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Doolittle is board certified in the areas of Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and specializes in the treatment of malignant melanoma. His clinical interests and research focus include clinical trials for the treatment of melanoma and the use of telemedicine technology in the care of the cancer patient. Dr. Doolittle has been published in various scientific journals and he serves as chair of the melanoma multidisciplinary tumor conference. In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Royal Society of Medicine, Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, American Telemedicine Association, and Midwest Melanoma Partnership.

Vice President, Energy Global Practice, Burns & McDonnell

Todd Sundbom is a Vice President in charge of operations and the gas & heavy industrial business for the Energy Global Practice at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, MO.

Todd grew up in Minnesota, he earned his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering at North Dakota State University and obtained his master’s in engineering management at the University of Kansas.   He started at Burns & McDonnell as a summer intern in 1991 and joined the firm full-time in 1992 as a Mechanical Engineer in Energy. He worked in a variety of roles on projects, including gas turbine / combined cycle, thermal energy storage, plant improvement projects, and new coal projects. Throughout his career, he held roles as project engineer, project manager, promoted to Mechanical Department Manager in 2006, Manager of Engineering in 2012, and Vice President in 2013.

Todd has the honor to work with and mentored by Richard Klover, Vice President of Project Managers, on numerous pursuits and projects.

Todd and his wife, Megan, have been married for 29 years and have a son and daughter.  Todd enjoys spending time with his family and outdoors at the lake.  Todd is also a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at North Dakota State University.

Internal Audit at Saint Luke’s Health System

Kristi Rutschman serves as Secretary and Treasurer for Outpacing Melanoma, a position held since the inception of the Foundation in 2011 after the passing of her father, Richard Klover who died from Melanoma in 2010. Kristi grew up in the Kansas City area, and attended Kansas State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, followed by a Master of Accountancy. Kristi worked as an auditor for over four years for Big 4 public accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP, while earning her Certified Public Accountant license. She later left the public accounting industry and currently works for Saint Luke’s Health System with a role in Internal Audit, and has held that position for the past three years. Kristi lives in Shawnee, Kansas with her husband and two children.
