Dear Outpacing Melanoma 5K Supporter,
You have been on our minds and in our hearts, and we pray this finds you safe and well. We have much gratitude and appreciation for your patience and understanding as we have carefully considered the direction for our event during these unprecedented times.
Outpacing Melanoma’s mission has always been to promote public safety and prevention. In times like these we need to focus on what we can control.
As the complexities and uncertainties surrounding this evolving coronavirus continue, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to transition our 9th Annual Outpacing Melanoma 5K into a “virtual” event.
So, what does this mean?
A virtual race allows you to run (or walk) from any location you choose on your own time and at a safe distance per CDC, city, county and state guidelines.
If you want to continue as a virtual participant you do not need to do anything; you are all set. In the coming weeks, we will provide you with details of how to share or post your virtual walk/run photos, selfies, warrior wall sign etc.
If you prefer to change your participation fee to a tax-deductible donation to support Outpacing Melanoma, please email us at outpacingmelanoma@gmail.com and we will make that change for you.
If neither of these two options are acceptable, please email us at outpacingmelanoma@gmail.com to request a refund for your participation fee.
For those of you who purchased bracelets or Koozies we hope to mail them to you by early May.
This is an event that many of us look forward to each year and we are disappointed that we won’t be able to be together in person. But it is our hope to remain positive and find creative ways to make the best out of this situation. We are all in this together.
As always, proceeds will support research and the Melanoma Survivorship Clinic at The University of Kansas Cancer Center so please continue to fundraise or donate.
Again, thank you for supporting Outpacing Melanoma!
Please “save the date” for our 10th Annual Outpacing Melanoma 5K on Sunday, May 2, 2021!
